Farms as a
Living Classroom
Lopemede Farm is a living landscape — fields, streams, meadows, orchards and habitats where children learn with the land, not just on it. Every visit is shaped by the season and linked to the curriculum.
What a Field Day Looks Like
Half and full-day visits for primary and secondary schools.
Children explore the health of soil, the seasons and the cycles of life — playing with their senses to discover what calls Lopemede home, and noticing what’s changing on the land.
They plant, harvest, survey, restore and reflect: farming with nature, eating seasonally, doing real work in a place that is genuinely changing because of their presence in it.

The possibilities are wide — from maths in the meadow to art in the orchard. A few starting points:

Pricing
We aim to make every visit free for schools and young people, including travel costs.
Group size
Visits are designed for groups of up to 30 — class-sized, so every child gets a real, hands-on experience.

Safety and Care
Food and drink offered during visits is kept simple, seasonal and minimally processed. Some areas of the land are deliberately rested for nature, with routes designed to avoid fenced-off habitats. We are working towards improved accessibility across the site, and every visit operates under clear risk assessments and safe-operating procedures, with defined roles on the day.
